The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, has denied dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

A statement by his media team reads: “The attention of Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, has been drawn to a rumour making the rounds that Oyo State deputy governor and other stakeholders are set to dump PDP for NNPP.

“We wish to state that the purported news item has no credibility of any sort and it is a mere conjecture with no compelling basis.

“For the records, the deputy governor remains an active member of the PDP and has not, at any material time, conceived or taken step to join any party known as NNPP.
“The rumour is of no moment.”

Meanwhile, PDP senatorial aspirants in Oyo Central Senatorial District have rejected the purported endorsement of former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Ilaka, as the consensus senatorial candidate for the district.

In a letter dated April 4, 2022, and addressed to Makinde, the aspirants stated categorically that the purported endorsement of Ilaka by some party stakeholders did not go down well with them based on the fact that the process was pre-determined and under serious threat.

Similarly, aspirants for the Oyo State House of Assembly in Saki West State Constituency have condemned the purported adoption of an aspirant as the candidate of the party in the forthcoming election.The aspirants, in a statement on their behalf by Hassan Ajibade, said consensus could not be reached by proxy.

They said they were not averse to the consensus arrangement but urged the governor to ensure the needful is done, adding that they should be carried along
