Wife of former Anambra State governor, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, has won the state’s North senatorial ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

She defeated her husband’s former Chief of Staff, Chief Primus Odili, with 152 votes to 120 in the primary held yesterday at the Ikpeazu Sports Stadium, Onitsha.

Also, her husband’s political son and former Housing Commissioner Mike Okonkwo lost in the House of Representatives primary for Orumba North and South to Sir Eric Eze, a businessman.

Eze polled 36 votes in the primary to defeat Okonkwo, who polled 30 votes for the APGA ticket.

The election was conducted at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka, the state capital.

Also, the All Progressive Congress (APC, has sent a strong warning to other political parties in the State by electing strong contingent for both senatorial and House of representatives candidates in the state.

A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who defected to APC, Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, won the senatorial ticket for Anambra Central.

Okelekwe’s election was monitored by a three-man member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Nwanga Anthony, a Deputy Director in the commission.

Governor Charles Soludo’s rival in APGA during the governorship election, Chukwuma Umeorji, picked the APC ticket for the Anambra South Senatorial District.
