Flights into the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos will not be diverted to other countries because of the repair of the runway; the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said on Thursday.

The repairs, the authority said, will commence this weekend for two days.

In a statement signed by its acting General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, FAAN said during this period, Runway 18L/36R will be in use for all inbound and outbound flight operations as scheduled while maintenance will be ongoing on Runway 18R/36L.

The management debunked a report of proposed diversion of international flights to Ghana and Cotonou due to ongoing repairs at Murtala Muhammed Airport Runway.

“Management also wishes to reiterate to our esteemed travelling passengers and the general public that inbound and outbound flights at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport will be operating unhindered.”
