The Oyo State House of Assembly has removed the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan as the Deputy Governor of the State.
Broadcast Cable Network reports that this followed the adoption of the report of a seven man panel of inquiry set up by the State Chief Judge following the directive of the House. The panel in its report recommended that the Deputy Governor be removed from Monday 18th, July having found him culpable of all the five allegations levelled against him in a petition sponsored by the majority leader, Sanjo Adedoyin and Akintunde Olajide and signed by 23 out of 32 lawmakers in the House.
It would be recalled that the Deputy Governor was alleged of gross misconduct, abuse of office, financial recklessness, abandonment of office and negligence of official duties as well as insurbordination among others and was asked to be investigated by the panel of inquiry after the expiration of seven days ultimatum to file his response. Recalled also that the Deputy Governor ha headed to appeal court to challenge the judgement of the High Court that struck out his move to stop the impeachment process.
