The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama Abuja on  Friday has remanded the suspended Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris and others at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

They were arraigned on 14 count criminal breach of trust to the tune of N109,485,572,691 before Justice Adeyemi Ajayi.

But they pleaded not guilty to the charges and prayed for oral bail.

During the proceeding, Idris lawyer, Chris Uche, SAN had prayed the court to grant them bail, citing threat and the situation of things around the Kuje prison lately.

Countering, EFCC lawyer, Rotimi Jacob said granting such prayer would send a wrong signal to the public and that the media would feast on it.

While ruling on it, the presiding Judge held that the court will not dance to the rhythms of public opinions, but follow due process.

“In the interest of justice, they are hereby remanded at the prison custody pending hearing of the bail application before the court,” Justice Ajayi held.

The trial Judge has since adjourned the matter to the 27th July, 2022 to hear the bail application.

At exactly 12:30Pm, the embattled ex AGF alongside others were taken to the prison custody in Nigerian Prison bus light green colour with number A1-5 13 NC
