Over 400 indigent students have been presented with free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms by Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, the Chairman Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, which was held at the premises of the council, Barrister Ogunlewe stated that the step is taken as parts of effort to boost educational development in the Local Government and admonished the beneficiaries not to abuse the privilege of getting the forms free of charge.
Barrister Ogunlewe reaffirmed his commitment towards providing necessary infrastructure to upgrade Academic development in various schools across the the Local Government, stating that his administration was aware of the financial constraints faced by people which necessitated the gesture.
He emphasized that the initiative was aimed to provide educational opportunities for the youths, irrespective of their status or political affiliation.
” Today’s memorable event, the distribution of free 450 General Certification of Education (GCE) forms to our selected candidates marks the third milestone in this legacy. We are resolute in our commitment to redefine education with our Local Government.”
The chairman further expressed his determination towards educational empowerment in the Local Government as he announced various projects embarked by his administration to boost infrastructural facilities in public primary schools across Kosofe Local Government. The projects which include the completion of the construction of Mosafejo Primary School and the provision of an Electronic Library (E-library) to Emmanuel Primary School, Ogudu.
He also made it known that all the public primary schools across the Local Government will be equipped with state-of-the-art Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets as his administration is in pursuit of Computer literacy from young age.
Barrister Ogunlewe emphasized that his administration will also distribute “welcome back to school’ packs comprising school bags, exercise books, uniforms, and more to students.
Additionally, there will be general school
rehabilitation efforts and the introduction of scholarships and bursary awards. Highlighting the partnership with SohCahToa organization in the distribution of GCE forms. Barrister Ogunlewe recalled that 150 forms were donated last year. He acknowledged the economic hardships faced by communities due to the fuel subsidy removal and emphasized the importance of unity during challenging times.
It would be recalled that Barrister Ogunlewe’s administration has made significant impact in the education sector, distributing 150 GCE e-pins and completing registrations in 2021, followed by 300 in 2022. He has also provided 1000 JAMB/UTME e-pins and registration in the 1st Edition of 2022. In addition to these efforts, free tutorial classes, adult literacy materials, and deworming exercises for public primary school pupils have been initiated.
Barrister Ogunlewe stated that hat the ongoing tutorial classes would prepare students effectively for the upcoming GCE exams. The successful students will be the third set of beneficiaries for this year’s UTME, reflecting the administration’s unwavering commitment to education and the bright future of Kosofe’s youth.
