The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off a residential building at No. 19 Ikoyi Crescent, Ikoyi, Lagos on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
The building was found discharging untreated wastewater onto the public road, creating hazardous environmental nuisance.
This was disclosed with a video in a post by the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab on his X handle on Thursday.
The post reads: “The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) #lswmomedia today Wednesday 11th September, 2024 sealed off a residential building located at No. 19 Ikoyi Crescent, Ikoyi, Lagos for discharging untreated wastewater onto the public road thereby creating environmental nuisance and endangering public health.
“The discharged wastewater was being discharged at the time of the inspection.
“The security personnel attached to the building also harassed and obstructed the inspection team from carrying their lawful duty in line with the provisions of the law.
“The necessary sanctions will be served the property and owners in with the provisions of the law
“The Lagos State Government reiterates that the State has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and degradation.”
