President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday, ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday at the State House Banquet Hall.
Led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the governors discussed strategies to strengthen the APC and enhance its capacity to deliver effective governance.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Uzodimma emphasized the need to align party objectives across grassroots, local government, state, and national levels.
“This was a convivial discussion with Mr. President to prepare for tomorrow’s NEC meeting and share ideas on reinforcing our party to better serve Nigerians,” Uzodimma said.
The NEC meeting is expected to address critical party matters, including the nomination of a new national chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje in June 2025, reportedly due to health reasons.
Abubakar Dalori has been serving as acting chairman pending the appointment of a permanent successor.
The session will also focus on fostering party unity and outlining strategies to strengthen the APC’s leadership and governance framework as it navigates future political challenges.
