The Lagos State enforcement team has dislodged illegal street traders operating along Bishop Oluwole Street in Victoria Island.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the development in a post on its official X handle on Monday, stating that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to restore order in the state.
The posts reads, “Our enforcement teams have just completed a successful dislodgement operation against illegal street traders on Bishop Oluwole Street in Victoria Island.
“This action is part of our ongoing efforts to restore order, ensure free vehicular and pedestrian movement, and maintain the aesthetic and environmental standards of our city.”
Wahab noted that traders had been urged to relocate to government-approved markets and commercial zones, warning that repeated violations would attract stiffer penalties.
“We urge all traders to relocate to approved markets and commercial zones. Continuous violation will attract stricter sanctions,” he said
The state government has in recent months intensified its clampdown on street trading and illegal structures across major roads in Lagos.
