President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the recall of Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
This effectively reversed recent changes in the management of the state-owned broadcast station.
Dembos, who was first appointed by President Tinubu in October 2023, briefly vacated the position following new appointments announced last week.
With the latest directive, he will return to complete his three-year tenure.
Also, the President has directed the reinstatement of Mr. Ayo Adewuyi as NTA’s Executive Director of News. Adewuyi, who was appointed last year, is expected to continue in office until the end of his tenure in 2027.
The President’s decision also set aside the newly announced appointments of a Director-General, an Executive Director of News, an Executive Director of Marketing, and a Managing Director of NTA Enterprises.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced the development in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, explained that the President’s directive was meant to ensure continuity and respect for the tenures of officials previously appointed.
