Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has declared that bandits and terrorists will find no refuge in the country’s forests, deserts, or national parks, urging troops to pursue them relentlessly.

During an operational visit to the 2 Division in Ibadan on Monday, Shaibu commended soldiers for recent successes and called for continued momentum.

“There is no safe haven anywhere—come rain or sun, in forests, deserts, or mountains, we are going after them,” he said, stressing intensified night operations to dominate difficult terrains and deny criminals operational space.

He highlighted persistent challenges in areas such as Kwara, Kainji Lake National Park, and Old Oyo National Park, issuing firm directives for their clearance with “ruthless determination.”

Praising the division’s leadership and troop morale, Shaibu emphasized the importance of frontline command and assured priority on welfare, including prompt entitlements, logistics support, and new barracks accommodations.

“Sustained discipline, motivation, and welfare are key to victory over threats to our communities,” he added.
