The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security on the Third Mainland Bridge and surrounding waterways with the deployment of round-the-clock marine and land patrols aimed at real-time crime detection, prevention, and rapid response.

Announced on January 15, 2026, the initiative involves combined teams of marine police units, tactical land patrols, and rapid response squads operating continuously across the bridge, its approach roads, and adjacent areas of Lagos Lagoon.

The Command urged residents and motorists to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity immediately via emergency lines (112 or 767), and cooperate with security personnel. Authorities noted that the 24/7 patrols will continue indefinitely or until the security situation stabilizes.

The move comes amid ongoing concerns over crime on major Lagos highways and bridges and has been welcomed by commuters who frequently use the route.
