A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held on November 15, 2025, declaring the exercise invalid.

The ruling, delivered on Friday by Justice Uche Agomoh, held that the convention violated subsisting court orders and laid-down party procedures.

The court barred Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and other officials elected at the Ibadan convention from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP. It further affirmed that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only legally recognised National Working Committee pending the conduct of a valid national convention.

The judgment represents a major victory for the faction aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, which had challenged the Ibadan convention, arguing that it was held in defiance of existing judicial directives amid the party’s leadership crisis.

However, reports indicate that the Turaki-led faction has signalled its intention to appeal the ruling, describing the judgment as contestable and insisting that its leadership structure remains intact pending a decision by a higher court.

The PDP has been locked in factional disputes since late 2025, with rival groups holding parallel conventions and laying claim to party leadership. The court’s decision further deepens uncertainty within the opposition party as it navigates internal divisions ahead of future electoral contests.
