The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), in collaboration with the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), has sealed the NITEL building on Marcathy Street, Obalende, Lagos Island, over the discharge of raw sewage into public drains.

Authorities said the enforcement followed reports that occupants of the facility were channeling untreated wastewater into drainage systems, creating environmental pollution and health risks for residents.

The building is reportedly occupied by squatters living on the premises without authorisation or proper coordination.

The LSWMO warned that illegal sewage discharge and other environmental violations will attract sanctions, stressing that such actions pose serious threats to public health and environmental safety.

Residents were urged to comply with proper wastewater management practices to maintain a cleaner and safer environment.
