The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Ukalikpe Napoleon of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the Ahoada East State Constituency II bye-election held on Saturday in Rivers State.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Rosemary Ogbo, announced the result, confirming that the poll was duly conducted and contested.
According to the official figures, Ukalikpe secured 3,980 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ego Marvelous of the Action Alliance, who polled 33 votes.
Other candidates recorded the following results: Godstime Egor of the Action Party of Nigeria, 38 votes; Oseja Clifford of the Boot Party, 11 votes; Ephraim Raphael Ede of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, seven votes; Ogide Samson Greatman of the Young Progressives Party, seven votes; and Kwodu Saturday Prosper of the Zenith Labour Party, six votes.
Prof. Ogbo stated that Ukalikpe, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, was duly returned elected.
