The United States Embassy in Nigeria has suspended all visa application appointments scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, citing a potential protest threat in Abuja.

In a notice, the embassy warned of possible demonstrations in the Federal Capital Territory and advised U.S. citizens residing in the city to remain indoors and avoid protest areas and large gatherings.

The embassy said visa applicants affected by the suspension would be contacted with information on how to reschedule their appointments.

Applicants were also urged to monitor the embassy’s website and social media channels for further updates.
