Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, led members of the State Executive Council on an inspection of the Multi-Agency Office Complex and the Lagos Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building located within the Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja.

The projects, situated close to the State Secretariat, are being developed by the Lagos State Government to improve service delivery and create a more efficient working environment for public servants.

Sanwo-Olu, who described the projects as strategic to administrative efficiency, said the multi-agency complex had reached the final stage of completion, with only finishing works left on parts of the ground floor and surrounding setbacks.

According to the governor, the multi-storey office complex is designed to accommodate several state agencies in one location to reduce congestion within the Secretariat and enhance coordination among government offices.

He noted that the facility will provide modern office spaces, relaxation areas, and a multi-level car park with capacity for over 600 vehicles, alongside safety and support infrastructure.

The governor added that the project would improve productivity among civil servants and ensure faster delivery of services to residents.

He said the Lagos Geographic Information Service building, also under construction, is a purpose-built five-storey structure designed to serve as a one-stop centre for land administration, urban planning, and geospatial services.

Sanwo-Olu said the LAGIS building would strengthen the state’s land management system and support the government’s drive for efficient documentation and planning.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the level of work done on both projects, noting that the contractor handling the multi-agency complex is expected to complete final clean-up within two weeks.

“We have just finished the inspection of the Multi-Agency Office Complex and the LAGIS building. The multi-agency complex is practically completed, with only finishing works around the setbacks and the ground floor remaining,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“I am impressed with the progress recorded so far. In the next two weeks, we expect the contractor to complete the clean-up in preparation for commissioning.”

Speaking on the LAGIS project, the governor said work must progress rapidly to meet the completion timeline.

“The LAGIS building is also a unique project that will meet our requirements in spatial and geographic information services, which are part of our solutions to land administration in Lagos. Construction work needs to move faster in the coming weeks to reach the completion stage,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that both projects may be formally inaugurated during a planned presidential visit to Lagos.

He said the commissioning would be symbolic, adding that the state government is expecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to inaugurate some completed projects during the visit.

“What we are planning for the formal opening is a symbolic commissioning. We are expecting a presidential visit in the coming weeks, and these buildings are among the projects that may be inaugurated during the trip,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the new facilities would significantly improve the quality of public service and create a better working environment for government employees.

He added that the improved ambience would translate to faster response time and more efficient service delivery to residents.

“The space in which services are rendered is very important to us as a government. That is why we are creating a better working environment for our staff so that they can serve Lagosians more effectively,” he said.
