Two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have been arrested following a shooting incident that reportedly left a driver dead in the Dada Estate area of Osogbo on Sunday morning.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, on March 15, 2026.

According to the police, the suspects, identified as Kolawole Suuti and Danjuma Samuel, were allegedly pursuing vehicles suspected to be “tokunbo” (foreign-used) cars when the incident occurred.

Police operatives reportedly responded swiftly after receiving information about the incident and arrested the two Customs officers.

During the operation, the driver of an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla—one of the vehicles allegedly being chased—was shot by the Customs officers.

The victim was later confirmed dead by a doctor at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital.

The identity of the deceased had not been confirmed as of the time of filing this report. His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue.

Items recovered from the scene include a Beretta pistol with breech number 125024, eleven rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one expanded 9mm shell, a white Toyota Corolla with Lagos registration number AAA 400 GQ, and an ash Toyota Corolla bearing registration number GFQ 0982 (Texas).

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The police command assured residents that anyone found responsible will face the full weight of the law and urged members of the public to remain calm while cooperating with security agencies as investigations continue.
