The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over alleged involvement in the possession and distribution of human body parts in Ibadan.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, linking the suspects to unlawful activities involving suspected human parts.
According to the statement, the arrest followed a routine stop-and-search operation carried out in the Adekile area of Agugu, where a patrol team intercepted an unregistered motorcycle.
“Upon searching the passenger, officers recovered a package containing what is believed to be human flesh, suspected to be intestines. The rider was immediately taken into custody,” the statement said.
The suspect, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, reportedly confessed during interrogation that he obtained the items from an unidentified individual in the Oritaperin area and sold them to two other persons.
Acting on the information, police operatives arrested Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, 46, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, 55, who allegedly admitted to purchasing the suspected human parts.
The Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, with a promise that the suspects will be prosecuted upon conclusion of the probe.
The command assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
