Hon. Busari Olakunle Moruf, popularly known as “Goodugoodu,” has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party’s gubernatorial primary election, monitored by Accord National Secretary Mrs. Adebukola Ajaja and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was attended by Engr. Keshinro Olugbenga, Prince Adewale Adeyemo, and Mr. Olaide Mobolade, among other stakeholders.
Announcing the result, the returning officer of the State Collation of the Primary Election Committee, Hon. Dairo Olayinka, disclosed that Busari secured 29,427 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, defeating two other aspirants in the contest.
According to the results announced, Oriyomi Hazmat garnered 18,716 votes, while Fatai Owoseni polled 11,922 votes.
Olayinka applauded the effectiveness of the local government returning officers which contributed to the positive outcome of the collation process across the state.
In his acceptance speech, Busari appreciated party members and delegates for their confidence in his candidacy, pledging to pursue people-oriented policies and inclusive governance if elected governor.
He also extended a hand of fellowship to the other contestants, stressing the need for unity within the party ahead of the governorship election.
“I am ready to work with everybody. We will work together and brainstorm for the progress and development of Oyo State,” he said.
Busari further promised to build on existing developmental efforts in the state, noting that his administration would focus on continuity and incremental growth.
“Where the present government stops, that is where we will begin,” he added.
