President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed delight over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, commending the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for their coordinated efforts.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the security agencies for working tirelessly over the past 56 days to secure the safe release of the victims without any collateral damage.
He also commended the operatives for arresting eight of the suspected abductors while neutralising others during the rescue operation.
President Tinubu acknowledged the pain and anxiety endured by the victims, their families, and Nigerians throughout the period of captivity, describing the successful operation as a major relief for the nation.
“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso, in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and led to the arrest of eight of them,” the President said.
He added that the operation had brought an end to more than 50 days of uncertainty and commended members of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and the police for their professionalism and dedication.
The President also assured that his administration would ensure justice for the rescued victims and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by the abductors.
President Tinubu further praised the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts and directed the state to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents.
In addition, he ordered emergency response agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued children and teachers with the necessary medical care and relief support.
