Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered three locally made pistols and eight rounds of live ammunition from them in the Alakuko area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who confirmed the arrest, said the development was part of sustained efforts by the police to combat armed robbery and other criminal activities across the state.
She added that the suspects were also allegedly involved in car-snatching incidents in different parts of Lagos.
According to Adebisi, the suspects, identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20; Olamilekan Ademola, 28; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21, were tracked down and arrested by the police.
She said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.
Adebisi said, “A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.”
She added that the suspects were currently in police custody, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate.
