Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has firmly denied recent media reports suggesting that he intends to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
In a statement issued on Saturday through Seyi Bamigbade, Director General of the Tinubu-Ambode Support Group, Ambode reaffirmed his allegiance to the APC, dismissing the reports as baseless and misleading.
The statement emphasized, “Our attention has been drawn to a false and malicious narrative circulating on social media alleging that His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, plans to contest for governor under the ADC platform. We categorically reject this as fabricated news, a deliberate attempt by rumor mongers and political opportunists to sow discord.”
It further underlined Ambode’s unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, stating, “Mr. Ambode’s commitment to the party and its leadership remains steadfast and non-negotiable.”
The statement also clarified that Ambode has not engaged in any discussions, meetings, or consultations with the ADC or any political party outside the APC regarding any political ambitions.
Bamigbade urged those responsible for the misinformation to pursue more constructive activities instead of spreading falsehoods for political gain.
He called on Lagosians and the wider public to disregard the unfounded claims and focus on issues that contribute positively to the progress of the state and the nation.
He expressed hope that Nigerians would remain discerning and not be distracted by politically motivated propaganda.
