The Kaduna State Police Command has dismissed false claims that over 100 worshippers were kidnapped in Kajuru Local Government Area, describing the report as a “deliberate fabrication” aimed at spreading panic.

Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu challenged those behind the allegation to provide credible evidence, warning that individuals found to be circulating false information would be prosecuted.

The Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Dauda Madaki, also debunked the report, saying investigations, including visits to the alleged church and engagements with community and religious leaders, found no evidence of any attack or abduction.

“I challenge anyone to provide the names of the kidnapped individuals,” Madaki said, adding that the rumour appeared to have been spread by persons “unhappy with the relative peace” currently being enjoyed in the area.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu, supported the police position, noting that religious leaders had also confirmed the claims were baseless.

Authorities have urged residents to disregard the reports and continue to report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
