The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has denied any link between its recent operation in Ilorin and a protest by students of Kwara State Polytechnic.
In a statement, the commission said operatives from its Ilorin Zonal Directorate carried out a sting operation on March 24, 2026, in Agbede Community, targeting buildings suspected to be hubs for internet fraud.
The operation led to the arrest of 30 suspects, including six students of the polytechnic, as well as the recovery of eight vehicles, mobile phones, and laptops believed to be proceeds of crime.
The EFCC stressed that its operatives did not enter the school premises or disrupt academic activities, describing claims linking the protest to its actions as misleading.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and urged the public to report any misconduct through appropriate channels.
