Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Osagie Destiny Etinosa over an alleged N11 million fraud involving a fake football recruitment scheme.

According to the EFCC, Etinosa was apprehended through open source intelligence after allegedly posing as a football agent on Instagram under the handle #officialking_etto, where he claimed to connect players with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment.

In a reported case, the suspect allegedly collected N11,000,000 from a victim, Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, with the promise of securing football trials in Romanian and Bulgarian clubs.

However, the arrangement reportedly never materialised, and attempts by the victim to recover his money were unsuccessful.

The anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspect will soon be arraigned in court.
