Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a truck hijacking attempt in Ijebu Mushin and recovered a stolen DAF truck alongside a wooden-fabricated rifle.
According to the police, the truck driver transporting motor spare parts was attacked by suspected hoodlums in the Oke-Ado area of Ijebu North Local Government Area before the vehicle was forcefully taken.
Detectives from the Ijebu Mushin Division, working with highway patrol operatives, responded to a distress call and reportedly pressured the suspects into abandoning the truck and fleeing the scene.
The driver sustained minor injuries during the incident and received first aid treatment. A search of the recovered vehicle led to the discovery of a wooden-fabricated rifle wrapped in black tape, allegedly used by the suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the swift response of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Police said efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
