Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered three stolen vehicles, two live cartridges, and foreign currencies during separate intelligence-led operations in the state.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Adeniyi Usman, popularly known as “Mandela,” and Abiodun Ogunojukan, also known as “Ilasa,” were apprehended by detectives attached to the Ifo and Sango Divisions following investigations into armed robbery and vehicle snatching cases.

According to the police, operatives of the Ifo Division raided a suspected criminal hideout in the Adeleye area of Itele, Ota, on May 9, 2026, after receiving credible intelligence that stolen vehicles were being kept at the location.

The police reportedly laid ambush at the premises and arrested Usman at about 10:35 p.m. after sighting suspected stolen vehicles.

Recovered from the hideout were a Toyota Corolla belonging to a complainant, a Toyota Venza allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Ilese-Awo, Abeokuta, on April 26, 2026, and a Honda Crosstour reportedly snatched during another robbery operation in Ijoko, Ota.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is allegedly connected to a criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery and vehicle theft within and outside Ogun State.

Further operations carried out on May 10, 2026, by operatives of the Ifo and Sango Divisions led to the arrest of Ogunojukan under the Sango-Ota Bridge.

Police authorities said the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crimes and provided useful information to assist ongoing efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen vehicles.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating criminal activities across the state.
