Nigerian police have arrested three persons suspected of being killers of Rachael Opadele, who was a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, and Olugbenga Owolabi, a US-based hotelier, three months after launching into investigation their deaths.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest of the suspected murderers Thursday, 22nd December 2022.
Recall that the two victims were abducted in August 2022, at a hotel located in the Abaa community in Surulere Local Government Area of Ogbomoso.
It was reported that the victims were shot dead after the kidnappers had collected a N5m ransom.
The okada rider, who took the ransom to the kidnapper’s den, was reportedly shot, but the sources said he was still alive.
Owolabi’s corpse was flown to the US for burial, while Opadele had since been buried.
Following an outrage in the town, a combined security team of the Joint Security Task Force in Oyo State, otherwise known as Operation Burst and Western Security Network code-named Amotekun stormed forests in Abaa, Surulere Local Government Area, Oyo, in search of the killers of the final year student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, the hotelier and one other person.
The three suspected were confirmed to have been arrested on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
