All markets in Ibadan will be shut on Friday 11th of March, 2022 in honour of Oba (Dr) Lekan Balogun Alli Okunmade II, who will be ascending the throne of his forefathers as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Asiwaju Yekini Abass Oladapo (YK ABASS), gave the directive in a statement issued today.

According to him, the decision was taken after arising from a meeting on Wednesday that all markets in Ibadan metropolis will be closed on Friday,11 March, 2022 for the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Alhaji YK Abass noted that the decision to close the markets was arrived at in order to avoid traffic congestion and honour the new first class monarch that will be installed.

The Babaloja General however further instructed traders and markets leaders should open the markets for their businesses by the end of Jumat when all major activities would have ended.

The number one trader in the state felicitate with Governor Seyi Makinde, the Ibadan Traditional Council and high chiefs for a rancour-free ascension to the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He prayed for peaceful reign of the New Olubadan of Ibadanland and development of the economy of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general.
