Hushpuppi: Police recommend Abba Kyari’s demotion

Proceedings in relation to the suspended Deputy commissioner of police Abba Kyari’s extradition to the United States, were stalled, at the Federal Court in Abuja due to lack of service.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN had filed an extradition application following a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.
When the case came up for hearing Counsel to AGF, Pius Akuta, informed the judge that the case was for preliminary hearing.
But Mr Kyari’s lawyer, Nureni Jimoh, SAN told the court that he had not been served with relevant court papers.
Justice Inyang Ekwo directed Mr Kyari’s lawyer to upon service, respond to the court papers within 14 days and adjourned the suit until April 27, following Mr Akuta’s undertaking to served the necessary court documents on Mr Kyari within two days.
Mr Kyari, is to be handed over to the U.S government over allegations of wire fraud involving Abbas Ramon popularly known as Hushpuppi, an Instagram celebrity.
