Oyo Police embark on show of force Patrol

Man held for transporting 250 parcels of Indian Hemp, The Kano Police Command has paraded a suspected drug dealer, Agbo Victor, 33, for transporting 250 parcels of dried leaves of Indian Hemp valued at N1.7 million from Edo State to the ancient city of Kano.

The suspect, who hails from Edo State, was arrested with the exhibits loaded in the boot of his dark green Honda Accord (Hennessy), the police said.

Police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspect was nabbed by a team of Operation Puff Adder led by CSP Hassan Nasir Jega – the Officer in Charge (OC) of Highway Patrol in Kano while on surveillance along Kwanar Dangora, Kiru Local Government Area of Kaduna-Kano Border.

“He was intercepted at Kaduna-Kano border,” Kiyawa, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said.

Upon interrogation, Agbo confessed the crime to newsmen. He disclosed he transported the Indian Hemp from Edo State to Kano with the intent of delivering it to “one Alhaji.”

It was gathered that the said “Alhaji” who ordered for the illicit goods is at large, having learned about Agbo’s arrest.

Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, directed that the case be transferred to the Narcotics Section of the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation.

Dikko said the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

He warned strongly that criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State, stressing that the police command will sustain the ongoing Operation Puff Adder that is yielding positive results.”
