The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Abdullahi Abbas has with immediate action announced the endorsement of the suspension of Ganduje ward leaders, following alleged connivance with the opposition party to suspend the National Chairman of the party Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

However, at a press conference earlier, the legal adviser of the ward Haladu Gwanjo accused the former Governor of gross misconduct and misappropriation of public funds during his administration in Kano.

He explained that they decided to suspend Dr Ganduje from the party due to the allegations levels against him by Kano state Government on bribery, and suspension started today, April 15.

According to him, “Leaders at the ward level resolved to suspend Ganduje after a vote of no confidence passed on him, following his failure to clear his name from a wide range of allegations of corruption, particularly the widely celebrated dollar video”.

But in a swift reaction, while speaking with Journalists on Monday in Kano, Alhaji Abbas, said the State committee of the party without wasting much time needed to take drastic action on those he described as enemies of progress within the party.

He, therefore, stated that the party deemed it necessary to adopt the suspension of the ward leaders for working in tandem with the opposition to suspend Ganduje from the party.

According to him, “The Party leaders in Dawakin Tofa local government council, where the National Chairman came from have taken drastic measures against the Ward Leaders who had earlier suspended Ganduje from the Party”.

Therefore, in a counter-reaction, the party leaders at the local government level thwarted the suspension describing it as null and void which cannot hold water.

The party said they have sanctioned them for six months and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.

The APC Chairman, Dawakin Tofa local government Inusa Suleiman Dawanau, told the press that those behind Ganduje’s suspension were caught in anti-party activities in recorded videos holding a series of meetings with the opposition.

He said the leadership of the Dawakin Tofa local government Chapter of APC has sanctioned the ward leaders of Ganduje ward for six months for engaging in anti-party activities and hobnobbing with the opposition party in the state.

Adopting the suspension of the wards leaders, the State Chairman of the Party further confirmed the adoption of the suspension of Ganduje’s ward leaders, setting a committee to investigate their anti-party activities.

“We have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman, and state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand for now suspended”.
