The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has reaffirmed the commitment of the police to improved security and crime prevention in Lagos State.

Jimoh spoke during a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The AIG, accompanied by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, and members of the zonal management team, formally introduced himself as the newly posted AIG in charge of Zone 2.

He commended the Lagos State Government for its support to the police, particularly in logistics, operational assistance and welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening policing and crime prevention.

Jimoh said the zone had recorded achievements that contributed to reducing crime and maintaining peace and public safety across Lagos and Ogun states.

He also disclosed reforms introduced since assuming office, including a ban on the transfer of cases from state commands to the zonal headquarters to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.

The AIG further revealed that the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, approved the creation of seven additional divisional police headquarters in Lagos State following recommendations made during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in the state.

He assured the governor of the police commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting lives and property, while also praising the efforts of the Lagos State Police Command in tackling crime.

Responding, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the visit as a “homecoming”, recalling Jimoh’s previous service as Commissioner of Police in Lagos.

The governor expressed confidence in the AIG’s leadership and professionalism, noting that Zone 2 remained one of the foremost police zones in the country.

Sanwo-Olu also applauded ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, especially the approval of additional divisional headquarters for Lagos State, saying the development would strengthen community policing and public confidence in the force.

He assured the police of the continued support and cooperation of the Lagos State Government towards improving security architecture and ensuring safer communities across the state.
