The Osun State Police Command has advised all political parties, candidates and their supporters to suspend planned political activities in Oriade Local Government Area on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, citing security concerns.
In a statement issued in Osogbo, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the directive followed credible intelligence reports indicating potential threats to peace and public order in the area.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, directed that all political gatherings, rallies, campaigns, processions and other related activities scheduled for the day be postponed to a later date.
The command explained that the decision became necessary after efforts to broker peace among the concerned political parties failed to yield the desired outcome, resulting in a deadlock.
The police noted that the measure is aimed at preventing any breakdown of law and order, as well as protecting lives and property in Oriade Local Government Area.
The command therefore urged political parties, candidates, supporters and residents to comply with the directive in the interest of peace and security.
It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment across the state and called on members of the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies.
