The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of polling unit results from the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), after the official close of voting.
As of 6p.m., the commission had uploaded 846 results out of the 2,445 expected polling unit results, representing 34.60 per cent of the total.
The uploads followed the conclusion of voting, sorting and counting of ballots in many polling units across the state.
Data available on the IReV portal showed that results from several wards in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area had already been uploaded.
Iyin I Ward recorded the highest number of uploaded results, with nine of the 23 polling unit results available on the portal.
Igbemo Ward followed closely, with nine of its 21 polling unit results uploaded.
Other wards with uploaded results included Are Ward 02, with four of 10 polling unit results uploaded; Igede II, four of 15; Igede III, one of 11; Afao, three of eight; Igede I, five of 15; Iworoko, three of 22; Iropora/Esure/Eyio, one of 16; Awo, three of 12; and Iyin II, six of 21 polling unit results.
The number of uploaded results is expected to increase as collation progresses across the state.
Voting ended in many polling units across Ekiti State before 3 p.m., after which election officials commenced the sorting and counting of ballots.
Residents turned out on Saturday to cast their votes in the election conducted by INEC across the state’s 16 local government areas.
Collation is currently on in some of the local government areas.
