The Nigerian Army has reported a series of successful operations against bandits in Kogi State as part of a new offensive to restore peace in the region.

The operation, code-named EGWUA A TITE II, began on September 1, 2025.

According to a statement from Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade, troops have so far neutralized at least nine bandits and rescued three kidnap victims.

On September 1, troops from the 126 Battalion engaged bandits in the Tunga area, killing two of them.

Following this, the commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, led an operation that resulted in the destruction of several bandits’ settlements.

On September 2, troops, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, launched an air combat mission to Ankomi, where they engaged and neutralized several fleeing bandits.

On September 3, a clearance operation in the communities of Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba led to the rescue of Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children.

The victims have since been reunited with their families. During the operation, five locally made dane guns were recovered.

On September 5, a fierce gun battle near Tunga resulted in the elimination of notorious bandit commander Kachalla Bala and five of his associates.

On the same day, a separate ambush operation at the Agbede–Adankoo Bridge neutralized a bandit logistics courier. Authorities recovered one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine with 20 rounds of ammunition during the ambush.

The Nigerian Army stated that these operations are part of a sustained effort to rid Kogi State of banditry and other security threats.
