The Federal Government has proposed a 40 per cent salary increase for lecturers under the Academic Staff Union of Universities as the union prepares to resume negotiations with government representatives.
The proposal forms part of ongoing efforts to address long-standing disputes between both parties over salaries and working conditions.
ASUU leadership is expected to return to the negotiation table to discuss the terms of the proposed adjustment alongside other welfare concerns affecting university lecturers.
Government sources noted that the 40 per cent increase is intended to improve remuneration and boost morale within the university system.
ASUU, which has repeatedly embarked on industrial action over delayed salaries and unfulfilled agreements, is expected to review the proposal before issuing an official response.
