The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday said many impersonators have been arrested within Lagos and Ogun states.

Also nabbed is an alleged dealer on military uniforms and accoutrements.

The division said the impersonators were handed over to the police for prosecution while the suspected dealer was transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS).

General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Division. Maj.-Gen. Umaru Musa, disclosed these to reporters after handing over to Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Musa said the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) played a vital role in the arrests.

He also gave more insights on last week’s killing of a Police Inspector by soldiers at Ojo. He disclosed that the policeman injured  a soldier during an altercation.

The ex-GOC said: “The incident happened along Ojo road. There was an altercation between soldiers and the policeman. The policeman fired and it injured the soldier on his ear.

“The soldiers then reacted   by shooting the policeman. He died in the process.

“Investigation is ongoing and we have also paid a condolence visit to the Commissioner of Police to tell him that we will take the necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.”
