The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State command has arrested two suspected drug kingpins, Mr. Kayode Fagbamigbe and Mr Samson Omotayo in Ise-Ekiti in Ise/Orun Council Area of Ekiti State.
The NSCDC said the two suspects were arrested at their hideouts in the ancient town following discreet investigation and intelligence gathered by its plain-clothed operatives.
The NSCDC State Public Relation Officer, DSC Tolulpe Afolabi disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.
The statement said, “Following a discreet investigation about kidnapping, drug peddling, cultism and armed robbery activities along Ikere/ Ise axis of the state, the NSCDC, Ekiti State, arrested two suspects Kayode Ilesanmi and Samson Omotayo.
“The Command’s Counter terrorism Unit of the Command swung into action after series of antics by the suspects to resist arrest which later led to a pandemonium amongst the youths in the town as the CTU cannot make use of branded vehicle to make the arrest to forestall likely escape of the suspects.
“The youths of the town quickly blocked the road and prevented NSCDC officers from leaving. The youths claimed that the officers were kidnappers which made the officers to show them their Identity cards. The youths were not satisfied and went ahead to assault NSCDC operatives who were on their legal duty. The situation was later managed by the officers.
“The preliminary investigation showed that the suspects are into cyber crime, cultism, and drug peddling. Kayode Fagbamigbe who claimed to be a student of Kenyatta University is suspected to be in the country for the purpose of transporting drug into Tanzania while Samson Omotayo is a suspected specialist in canabis sativa processing .
“The two suspects are currently in the Counter Terrorism Unit where they are assisting the Unit in their investigation so as to arrest others who are at large. The suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of preliminary investigation by the Unit”.
